Easter Seals West Kentucky visited Calvert City Food Truck Friday on June 14. Food Truck Friday is a weekly summer event held in Calvert City through September.
Beginning in May, Calvert City started hosting Food Truck Friday and it runs through the end of September during lunchtime. “Over the last two years, food trucks have become common in Calvert City. The struggle to find a place in the City was difficult. This event gives food trucks the opportunity to safely park their trucks in a high-trafficked area during our busy lunch hours,” says Blair Travis, director of marketing and business development for Calvert City.
“We heard about Calvert City offering Food Truck Friday and thought it would be a great opportunity for us to visit. Having the opportunity to choose their own food, pay for their own food in a controlled environment is a great learning experience for our Adult Day Training individuals,” says Ed Wilkinson, Adult Day Training Assistant Manager.
Easter Seals West Kentucky has been helping individuals with disabilities and special need, and their families, live better lives for nearly 100 years. From child development centers to physical rehabilitation and job training, Easter Seals offers a variety of services to help people address life’s challenges and achieve personal goals.
Food Truck Friday is held every Friday during the summer at Doctor’s Park which is located behind the Marshall County Library @Calvert City. “It’s a great way to get people that don’t live in Calvert City into our parks. If you haven’t seen them, you’ll be amazed,” said Travis. “When Mr. Wilkinson called me earlier this week, I was so excited! Yes! This is the perfect place to try many different types of food and we have a nice pavilion to enjoy an outdoor picnic, followed Travis”
Food Truck Friday is held from May-September 27 from 11:00 AM – 2:30 PM. Menus are posted each week of participating food trucks. If you are interested in setting up or even selling food for a fundraiser, call (270) 395-7138.
