People and organizations across west Kentucky are stepping up to help survivors of the deadly tornado that raced across Marshall County Friday night. And now, volunteers are gathering together to help those in need. Here are several ways people affected by the tornado can get help, and how others can support those who need help.

Current Donation Drop-off locations and Distributions:

 

  • Benton Middle School – everything will be transitioning to Benton Middle School by Monday, December 20. Any bulk or semi loads should be taken to Benton Middle School Gym (8 AM – 5 PM)
  • Old Benton Library (1003 Poplar Street, Benton, KY is open for donations and distribution, not accepting clothing (8 AM -5 PM)

 

 

Serving Food

  • Marcella’s Kitchen serving hot food (868 Guy Mathis Drive, Benton, KY)

Lumber Needs:

  • Calvert City Lumber is accepting donations over the phone or in-store that will go toward future materials needed. If you are in need of materials, visit Calvert City Lumber. (270) 395-4111

 

 

 

SMALL BUSINESSES RECOVERY CENTER

Internet Access Availability

  • All three Marshall County Library locations are providing free wi-fi and computer access in Benton, Calvert City, and Hardin from 9 AM – 5 PM Monday-Saturday.
  • Mediacom has set up a free Wi-Fi hotspot location at 90 Main St. Benton, KY for complimentary use by members of the community.
  • Internet providers say they expect most customers currently impacted by an outage to regain service as commercial power is restored to storm-affected areas.

Crisis Counseling

  • The National Disaster Distress Hotline provides immediate crisis counseling to those affected by the tornadoes in six local states. 1-(800) 925-5990
  • Marshall County Resiliency Center will be offering free counseling in collaboration with Four Rivers Behavioral Health, KY Division of Public Health Protection & Safety Preparedness Branch, and the Community Crisis Response Board. (270) – 527-4750
